Message from the President
Darwin Kanius, LAAS, MAAS, CAE

As I write my spring message on April 9th, I can report that it is about as cold today as it was on December 17th when I penned my season’s greeting and last President’s message. You can look it up!

I know all of you are busily involved in the reassessment year. New assessed values have been prepared province wide, assessment rolls are open, some now closed, and the public is now aware of the impact of the new assessments. Good luck to all in the support of the new assessments before the Boards of Revision and Assessment Appeals Committee.

Since my last message, I am happy to report that The Assessment Appraisers’ Act and The Assessment Appraisers Regulations, assented in May 2012, were proclaimed to be in force on March 15, 2013. They are now law. Consequential amendments to The Assessment Management Agency Act and the Agrologists Act, 1994 are also in force and reflected in these Acts.
